Valentine's Day Gala celebrates Gratitude.

Greater Toronto-based non-profit organization, Amar Karma Health & Wellness Awareness network, celebrates its 13th annual Give a Heart gala to commemorate Valentine's Day on February 4, 2023, at Speranza Banquet Hall.

Team Karma held their two annual galas online during covid, and the group is excited to be hosting Give a Heart in person this year. The theme this year is Gratitude, Resilience and Diversity. The main highlights of Give a Heart are the Special Sixteen segments, when youth turning 16 share their commitment towards society for their milestone birthday, Karma talent performances, art exhibition and dance.

"This platform allows youth to learn new things, practice and perform skills. We feel that it is essential for children to engage in social causes. They keep out of trouble and their devices," says the board of director, Dr. Aman Taggar, "These children have grown with Amar Karma learning the straightforward ideas of giving back. It is gratifying.

In the past decade, the organization has received tremendous appreciation from the community for their initiatives that are focused on raising awareness about important issues that impact health and wellness with the involvement of youth in engaging ways such as performance musicals, skits, and speeches etc. The organization was founded by Loveen Gill in 2008 to raise awareness about organ and tissue donation. As the team grew, it broadened its horizon to include more aspects of community building, disseminating information about health and wellness, blood donation, umbilical cord blood donation, mental health, disability etc.

"We pay closer attention to fostering the idea of connectedness within the younger ones; inculcating the seed of gratitude in children is important, and we witness it happening effortlessly here, "says the board of director Vipandeep Marok, "that's what keeps us going."
