400 gms Bhetki (Fish)
2 tea-spoon turmeric powder
70 ml mustard oil
1 table spoon Nigella seeds (Kalonji)
100 gms chopped onion
2 tea-spoon cumin powder
5 gm grated green chilli
5 gm red chili powder
Half tea-spoon sugar
Salt according to taste
Step 1:Cut the fish into medium size pieces
Step 2: Mix with salt, turmeric powder and tea-spoon of mustard oil. Keep it aside for half an hour. Shallow fry the fishes
Step 3: Slit green chilli to make a coarse paste
Step 4: Take 2 tsp of mustard oil in a pan and heat to smoking point
Step 5: Add Kalonji (onion seeds) and allow it to crackle
Step 6: Add the chopped onion and cook till the fishes soak the excess water.
Step 7: Cook for some time and adjust seasoning and bring to correct consistency (thick gravy). Serve hot along with steamed rice
